Laser-cut Pepakura

Figured out how to lasercut pepakura. I’ve got all the settings down for a 45W Epilog CO2 laser, from pepakura’s export options to good, thin fonts for cutting, and how to just cut enough that parts will tear cleanly out of a piece of cardstock. Takes about ten minutes per sheet, though- most of that is the edge IDs.

No cutting. No scoring. Just folding pre-scored lines and gluing it together. Contact me with some pre-sized files if you’d like me to cut you some.

Come Get Your Halo 3 Marine PDOs [Halo Pepakura]

There’s always going to be That Guy.
The guy who tries(ss) to write(ss) you(ss) out of the forum after you say something they don’t like. The guy who steals your work and reposts it with almost all of your credit(and others’) removed. The guy who jealously guards his work, letting only screenshots and snippets out. The guy who decides he should only release pdfs, because the latest version of his software of choice bit the bullet and wrote in model exporting.

I’m not going to be That Guy. Enjoy.

I built the pdo I finished unfolding the other day.

We’ve also coated the inside with polyurethane casting resin, not quite done there, though.

Finally finished this thing.. and not too soon, as Dragon Con is looming. If all goes well these will be done and available long before the con itself. Might even try coating the inside with poly-resin on these, instead of the traditional resin-fiberglass-body filler treadmill.

Halo Pepakura: Security Shoulder

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Yes, another one. We’ll be done soon.. Front floating faces are actually stencils for your material of choice- they’re just a .1″ or so ledge that needs to be built up. Styrene, balsa, acrylic, whatever. Side floaters just epoxy onto the main body after resining, or glue it at the pep stage, doesn’t really matter.

Awhile back I had the chance to try out a highly modified game model which was turned into a pepakura file- here’s the finished papercraft helmet:
