WIP: Smoothed Assault Rifle & Spartan Laser

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

A big problem with my current armory is that I’ve got lots of costumes, but no weapons. If anyone out there’s interested in trading weapon props for marine armor, drop me a line. In the meantime, I’ve been pouring time into these whilst staying home sick from the TechShop.

They’re HyperNURBS’d models, built in Cinema4D.

The idea is to CNC them out of 2″ expanded polystyrene foam and try various coatings to achieve a finish-able surface. As usual, the base meshes were from Martyn Ball.

Mk.VI Spartan Handplate Models for CNC & RP

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

This was a test piece for my CNC, but I might as well make it available to everyone now- I know there are some others working on their own CNC machines to build armor with now, maybe it can help them.
Modeling was done in Cinema 4D, OBJ was exported from Pepakura 3. Included is an STL and C4D, as well as the basic model.
You don’t want to unfold this.

Great stuff here.. came across these Fallout 3 powered armor suits, from a guy named Vampyredh. I cleaned them up some, and since I’ll probably never actually make them.. here, have fun.

Halo Pepakura Build: Halo 3 Marine Helm

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

I built the pdo I finished unfolding the other day.

We’ve also coated the inside with polyurethane casting resin, not quite done there, though.

Finally finished this thing.. and not too soon, as Dragon Con is looming. If all goes well these will be done and available long before the con itself. Might even try coating the inside with poly-resin on these, instead of the traditional resin-fiberglass-body filler treadmill.

Halo Pepakura: Scout Chest

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Yes, more Halo stuff. I’ll get back to Starcraft after DragonCon has passed.
This is the Scout Chest. See its page for download soon.

Halo Pepakura: Scout Shoulder

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

I’ve finally broken the minor case of modeling block I had, and produced a small, simple model- the scout permutation shoulder from Halo 3.

No render, I don’t have Photoworks installed at the moment.

This one ended up with 260 features and a 40-second rebuild time.
